Centers of Excellence at University of Miami
The Division received the designation as a Center of Excellence from the Parkinson’s Foundation in 2007. Since then the team has also been designated an American Parkinson’s Disease Information and Referral Center, Cure PSP Center of Care, Huntington Disease Center of Excellence, and Wilson’s Disease Center of Excellence. The division also comprises part of Cognitive Neurology’s Lewy Body Disease Center of Excellence, and the Department of Psychiatry’s Tourette Center of Excellence.

The University of Miami offers a 1 or 2-year fellowship program that aims to provide fellows a broad exposure to the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of movement disorders.
The Division of Movement Disorders is a subsection of the Department of Neurology within the Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine (MSM) of the University of Miami (UM). The Division was founded in 1984 by Dr. William J Weiner who served as Division Chief until 2000, followed by Dr. William Koller until 2002, and then Dr. Carlos Singer until 2020. He was succeeded by the current Division Chief, Dr. Ihtsham Haq.
